Our first conversations are an opportunity to understand your home, your lifestyle, your priorities, and the ways you want the space to evolve. We take time to understand not only what you want to change, but why.
From there, our team visits the property to experience the architecture firsthand, assess the existing conditions, and begin identifying opportunities within the space.
Before design begins, we establish a clear understanding of your goals, scope, and investment so that every decision that follows has intention behind it.

Design Begins Before the Materials
Before a finish is selected or a fixture is specified, we establish the larger vision.
Our design team studies the architecture, existing conditions, proportions, natural light, and the way you move through the home. We develop layouts, concepts, and visual direction that bring those observations together into a cohesive point of view.
This is where the character of the home begins to emerge.
We draw inspiration from architecture, nature, travel, art, antiquities, and craftsmanship rather than trends. The goal is not to recreate an image, but to interpret what makes your home and your life uniquely yours.
As the design develops, we also establish a working project budget so that creative decisions and investment remain aligned from the beginning.
03 | REFINE
Thoughtful Design, Considered in Every Detail
Once the direction is established, we refine the design through drawings, renderings, materials, furnishings, and architectural details.
You will see the project begin to take shape through visual presentations that allow us to explore the experience of the finished home before construction begins.
We consider every element in context, from the architectural framework to the smallest detail, so that the spaces feel cohesive, functional, and deeply personal.
Selections are made with both beauty and longevity in mind, balancing craftsmanship, materiality, and the realities of everyday life.
By the end of this phase, the design, scope, and investment are clearly defined.
04 | BUILD
One Vision. One Team.
Once the design is resolved, construction begins.
Unlike a traditional model where design is handed off to another team, Black Forest carries the vision forward. Our designers and builders remain connected throughout the project, allowing decisions to be made with the original intent always in view.
Permitting, procurement, scheduling, craftsmanship, and installation are managed as part of one integrated process.
Your dedicated team oversees the work from the first day on site through the final details, maintaining communication, quality, and accountability throughout the build.
Because the people responsible for bringing the vision to life are involved from the beginning, nothing is lost in translation.
05 | REVEAL
The Details Make the Difference
As construction comes to a close, our attention turns to the details.
Our team completes the final installation, reviews the finished work with you, and ensures that each element of the design has been thoughtfully executed.
The goal is not simply to complete a renovation. It is to create a home that feels resolved, personal, and enduring, a place that functions beautifully today and continues to feel right for years to come.
When appropriate, we also offer furnishing and styling services to complete the home from architecture through the final layer.
